WHEN YOU LOOK AT ME
by
Pamela Williams
When you look at me, what do you see?
Do you see a woman in need of a hug?
Tell me, what do you see?
Do you see a woman who is self-assertive and confident?
Tell me, what do you see?
Are you judging me by the susit I am wearing?
Are you guessing how much it cost me never really looking at me?
Tell me, what do you see?
When my hair is not in place, or maybe I'm wearing a wig,
What do you really see?
Have you taken the time to discover the person behind the image that
you see?
Or have you just passed judgment on me because of what you see?
Tell me, what do you see?
Do you see the pain that I am in?
Do you see the loneliness that I must endure day in and day out?
Do you see the insecurities that haunt my dreams at night?
Do you see the need that I have for your simple acceptance?
No...
You see what you want to see
For that is your comfort zone.
Anything beyond your comfort zone is a blur to you.
So, tell me what do you see?
Do I fit into your neat little box of qualifications for your attention?
Do I fit the standards that allow you to speak to me?
Do I fit in at all?
Tell me, what do you see?
Do you see what Jesus sees?
A woman who is sin-sick and worn.
She is tired of living the life that she lives on a daily basis.
She is searching for true love, true friendship, true peace.
She wants to make a change in her life, but she does not know how.
Why?
Because nobody wants to talk to her because she does not fit the "bill."
She does not look like they want her to look.
Inside is a little girl that needs loving care and attention.
Inside of that woman's body is a little girl that is only looking
for your acceptance.
What do you see when you see me?
Do you see the person that Jesus died on the Cross for
Or
Someone you would rather avoid?
If you close your eyes when I approach you,
Or
Turn your head the other way, then you do not
understand
Who
Jesus
Died for on the Cross of Calvary!
He died for me!
He died for me too!
But will you tell me that even though I do not
look like You?
Will you take the time to stop out of your
Busy schedule and share the Good News of
Jesus Christ with a person whom you
deem a "Nobody?"
Tell me, do you see what Jesus sees when you
look at me?
Are you seeing me through the Eyes of
Judgment
Or
Through the Eyes o Jesus Christ, the Creator
of Us All?
Tell me, what do YOU see?
